Preparation:

Fasting (not eating or drinking anything except water) for 8-12 hours is recommended. You can drink water and take your regular medications as prescribed unless you are instructed by your healthcare provider not to do so. Please be sure to drink plenty of fluids before your urine sample collection. Those who choose not to fast may show elevated glucose and triglyceride levels.

This profile provides a deep dive into your health to paint a more complete picture of your overall wellness. It includes tests that may provide information about heart health, kidney health, liver health, bone health, diabetes risk, and other health factors.

This profile also includes the collection of key body measurements and an online Health Risk Assessment, which is a brief survey that will capture family health history and current health and wellness behaviors. These additional metrics include Biometric Screening (physical measurements of your height, weight, waist circumference, and blood pressure); a Health Risk Assessment survey to gather information about your family health history and your current health and wellness behaviors; a personalized Health Quotient Score which can be used to help you better understand and track your individual health. You may request a personal discussion with a doctor to review your results and help you set measurable and achievable health goals.

This profile contains:

A CBC measures multiple components of your blood to help identify bleeding disorders or infections and to evaluate abnormal levels of specific blood components, such as low levels of red blood cells, which transport oxygen to body cells and tissues (anemia) and high levels of abnormal white blood cells that crowd out red blood cells and platelets (leukemia).

A CMP (also known as a Chem 14) is a broad screening tool that assesses 14 different substances to evaluate sugar (glucose) levels, kidney function, liver function, and electrolyte imbalance. This panel of tests is often used by healthcare professionals to detect and monitor various abnormalities, including nutrient balance, diabetes, and kidney and liver disease.

A Cholesterol Panel measures fatty substances used as energy by the body, including cholesterol and triglycerides. Abnormally high levels can build up in the blood and increase your risk for heart disease or stroke. This panel of tests measures total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and triglycerides.

A urinalysis, also called a urine panel, consists of a series of tests used to evaluate visual, chemical, and microscopic features of urine. Urinalysis may be used to identify potential risks for diabetes, liver disease, and kidney disease.

The Vitamin D test measures the level of vitamin D in your blood to regulate calcium and phosphorus, which are essential nutrients to promote bone and cellular health. An adequate level of this vitamin is necessary for immune function, heart and blood vessel health, insulin regulation, and mood. Abnormal levels of vitamin D can indicate bone disease, nutrition disorders, or other metabolic complications.

The HbA1c test is used to measure your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. Healthcare professionals use this test to determine disease states such as prediabetes or type 2 diabetes or to help you monitor your levels if you have diabetes. An elevated HbA1c level means that your blood sugar levels have been high over the past 3 months. The HbA1c test reports your blood sugar levels as a percentage.

C-reactive protein found in the bloodstream increases in response to inflammation, infection, and following a heart attack, surgery, or trauma. The hs-CRP is more sensitive than a CRP test and accurately detects low but persistent levels of inflammation, which may be associated with developing cardiovascular disease (CVD). A persistently low level of inflammation may be a sign of atherosclerosis, the narrowing of blood vessels caused by the buildup of cholesterol and other lipids, which is frequently associated with CVD.

The mean platelet volume (MPV) measures the average size of platelets in your blood. MPV is associated with exercise performance, but it also plays a role in blood clotting and inflammation.

At the time of your appointment, physical measurements such as your height, weight, waist size, and blood pressure are taken to provide you with additional health-related information. Chronic health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes, are associated with risk factors such as increased waist circumference and high blood pressure.

The Health Risk Assessment is a brief survey that captures family health history and current health and wellness behaviors.

Your Health Quotient Score is a unique number developed by Quest that represents your health on a scale of 1 to 100. This score is unique to each individual and considers family health history, health and wellness behaviors, body measurements, and select laboratory test results. The higher the score, the lesser the risk may be of developing chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart, liver, or kidney disease. Additionally, you can see how your Health Quotient Score changes by tracking your progress over time.

Includes a one-on-one discussion with a doctor who will review your results and work with you to develop measurable and achievable health goals. You may request the discussion when your results are ready.

After you provide your specimen, it generally takes up to 5 business days to process and release your test results. However, processing times may vary. What does the Comprehensive Metabolic Panel measure?

The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) includes measurements for blood sugar (glucose), electrolytes and fluid balance (sodium, calcium, potassium, carbon dioxide, chloride), proteins (albumin, total protein), kidney health (blood urea nitrogen, creatinine), and liver health (alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase, bilirubin). The CMP can provide insight into your overall health.

What does the Complete Blood Count measure?

A Complete Blood Count (CBC) includes measurements for red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelets.

Red blood cells (RBCs), also known as erythrocytes, carry oxygen from your lungs to the tissues and organs in your body. Your red blood cell count measures the concentration of RBCs in your blood sample, while hemoglobin indicates the amount of this oxygen-carrying protein inside those RBCs. A hematocrit test measures how much of your blood is made up of red blood cells. A platelet count indicates the concentration of platelets, vital to blood clotting, your blood contains.

A CBC also offers information regarding the physical characteristics of red blood cells. The mean corpuscular volume (MCV) is a measurement used to describe the average size of red blood cells. The mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) value represents the average amount of hemoglobin contained in each red blood cell, whereas the mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) value represents the hemoglobin concentration within red blood cells. The red cell distribution width (RDW) indicates your red blood cells' size variation and similarity.

White blood cells (WBCs), also known as leukocytes, are a component of the immune system which are classified into the following types: lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. They each perform a unique function and work together in response to injury or illness by attacking unknown substances or organisms that enter the body.

How is HbA1c different from a glucose measurement?

The HbA1c test measures your average blood glucose levels over the past 3 months from the time of testing, whereas glucose measurements indicate your current blood glucose level at the time of testing.

What is the purpose of urinalysis, and what does it detect?

A urinalysis, also called a urine test, identifies abnormalities in the urine's appearance, content, and concentration. This analysis examines the color, clarity, pH, and density of your urine and the presence of glucose, bilirubin, ketones, blood, protein, nitrate, infection, white and red blood cells, skin cells, bacteria, and hyaline casts (microscopic clusters of urinary particles). A urinalysis can help doctors identify potential health problems before symptoms develop, including serious diseases like kidney disease, diabetes, or liver disease in their earliest stages.

What factors can affect the test results?

Eating, drinking, or exercising before the test, certain medications, diet, dehydration, and other factors can affect the results of these panels.
